View full details

The Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze combines basaltic lava from Mount Etna and bronze trim into a single luxury fountain pen. The body is made of over 50% volcanic lava catalyzed with resin according to a patented Visconti formula, making it virtually indestructible and heat-resistant up to over 100°C.

The metal parts, inspired by the Bronze Age, do not require protective treatments and maintain their original rosy hue. The bridge clip recalls Florence's Ponte Vecchio, symbolizing the connection between Florentine tradition and innovation.

Homo Sapiens Bronze Features

The 18Kt gold nib is available in Fine, Medium, Broad, and Stub sizes, suitable for every writing style. The double-reservoir Power Filler system ensures greater ink autonomy than traditional piston systems, with a titanium reservoir resistant to ink corrosiveness.

The basaltic lava is slightly hygroscopic, for a comfortable grip, and virtually unbreakable: over 10 times more impact-resistant than resin. Each piece has unique natural veins. It is also available as a rollerball and ballpoint pen, for coordinated sets.

Founded in Florence in 1988, Visconti launched the Homo Sapiens line in 2000, the first manufacturer to use volcanic lava in luxury writing instruments. It is a pen designed for collectors, professionals, and those seeking a prestigious gift of Italian craftsmanship.

Bronze

Inspired by the Bronze Age, the first sign of civilization almost contemporary with the invention of writing, all metal parts (clips, rings, and accessories), with the sole exception of the piston, are made of bronze, which does not require protective treatments that alter its original, almost pink color; it can be easily polished with special products.
The filling plunger is made of titanium, which perfectly resists the aggressiveness of the ink.

Visconti - Stilografica Homo Sapiens Bronze

An ancient material

Visconti's modified basaltic lava is practically perfect for writing instruments, as it is:
- Virtually unbreakable with an extremely high degree of resilience, i.e. the ability to absorb shock: over 10 times stronger than the same pen made of resin, virtually unbreakable in everyday use.
- Flame retardant and heat resistant to over 100 degrees centigrade: well above the temperature reached in a parked car in summer (70°).
- Only slightly hygroscopic, to pleasantly absorb hand sweat while writing
- Smooth feel on contact, almost rubber-like, restful on the fingers, excellent grip.

Homo Sapiens is a line of writing instruments designed for true writers, for those for whom the pen is still a travel companion, a daily friend with whom to share the civilization that writing itself helped create.
