Delta Bajau, the new Indigenous People

The Bajau is the new Delta fountain pen from the Indigenous People series dedicated to the Bajau, the legendary Sea Nomads of Southeast Asia. It is a Jonathan Brooks resin fountain pen, lustrous and always different from one pen to another, with vibrant sea-green hues.

Every detail tells the story of this people's identity: the clip represents the traditional houseboat, the central band echoes the embroidery of ceremonial clothing, and the nib is decorated with the traditional female headdress.

The nib is available in a 14kt gold version and, for the first time in an Indigenous People edition, also in a steel version. The pen is also available as a rollerball.

Delta Bajau Indigenous People: technical features

The Bajau is a large-format Delta fountain pen. The Jonathan Brooks resin is hand-turned, which makes each piece unique in its grain and chromatic intensity.

The piston filling system ensures a high ink capacity, ideal for long writing sessions. The nib is available in 14kt gold (EF, F, M, B, Stub 1.1) or — a first for an Indigenous People edition — in steel (EF, F, M, B, Stub 1.1, Stub 1.5): same pen, same limited edition.

The edition is limited to 388 numbered pieces for the fountain pen — with the same serial number shared between the steel and gold versions — and 388 for the rollerball.

  • Body in Jonathan Brooks resin, unique grain for each piece
  • Integrated piston filling system
  • 14kt gold or steel nib (first time in an Indigenous People edition)
  • Also available as a rollerball, also 388 pieces
  • Decorations inspired by Bajau culture: clip, band, and nib

The Delta Bajau is part of the Delta Indigenous People collection, dedicated to indigenous peoples and cultures of the world. Discover other Delta fountain pens on pens.business.

Which nibs are available for the Bajau?

The Bajau is available with a 14kt gold (EF, F, M, B, Stub 1.1) or steel (EF, F, M, B, Stub 1.1, Stub 1.5) nib. It is the first time an Indigenous People edition has been offered with a steel nib.

What is the filling system of the Delta Bajau?

The Bajau fountain pen uses an integrated piston filling system, which allows for drawing ink directly from a bottle. It is also available as a rollerball.

Is the Bajau a limited edition?

Yes. The fountain pen is limited to 388 numbered pieces — the serial number is shared between the steel and gold versions. The rollerball is also limited to 388 numbered pieces.

What do the decorative details of the Bajau represent?

Every decorative element is inspired by Bajau culture: the clip recalls the traditional houseboat, the central band mimics the embroidery of ceremonial clothing, and the nib is decorated with the traditional female headdress.

The clip

The Bajau clip features the Lepa, the traditional house-boat of the Bajau people, on which they live and travel, primarily engaging in freediving fishing. Thanks to a genetic adaptation that results in a spleen 50% larger, the Bajau can stay underwater for 5 minutes at a depth of up to 70 meters.
Even today, many Bajau preserve their traditions and their sea-bound way of life in harmony with nature, resisting the pressures of modernity.

Popoli indigeni

From 2003 to 2015, Delta released 15 different collections in the Indigenous People series, each dedicated to an indigenous population of the world, its customs and traditions.
A very successful series, resumed in 2024 with the Sentinelese, in 2025 with the Simbu, and joined by the Bajau in 2026.
