Prismalo Vintage: Made in Switzerland since 1915

They are designed and produced in Geneva, following the same artisanal standards held by the Swiss brand since 1915. To complete the artistic experience, pair them with the Keith Haring sketchbook.

The 3mm lead combines dry precision with a water-soluble finish. The pigment activates upon contact with water, creating controllable gradients. The range of 30 colors covers primary, secondary, and earth tones. They are compatible with paper, cardboard, wood, and stone, but do not adhere to glass or plastic.

Painting techniques and storage

Among the most common techniques: dry layering to create depth. Wet-on-dry involves water activation on dry paper. Wet-on-wet produces soft gradients on pre-wetted paper.

The numbered tin protects the leads from impact and humidity. The airtight closure maintains the quality of the pigments over time. To learn more about the technique, you can consult the entry dedicated to watercolor pencils on Wikipedia.

FAQ

Are they suitable for professional artistic use?

Yes: the pigment formulation ensures lightfastness and color stability. Artists and illustrators use them for plein air sketches, preparatory studies, and finished works.

Can I buy individual replacement pencils?

Individual Prismalo pencils from the standard range are compatible in color and format, although they lack the "Vintage" label of this edition.

Is this edition still available?

Production ended in 2011 with 8,000 numbered pieces: remaining stock is only found at specialized retailers, making it a sought-after piece for collectors.

What is the collectible value of this edition?

The value depends on the condition of the tin, the completeness of the set, and the original numbering: sealed boxes command higher prices among vintage stationery collectors.
