Features of the Aurora Optima

Marbled auroloid: a celluloid-like material chosen for its brilliance and resistance. It combines the vintage look of celluloid with modern durability, and each sheet is cut to show a unique pattern.

14 Kt gold nib available in EF, F, M, B, Stub widths. Suited to different writing styles, from fine everyday notes to calligraphic strokes.

Piston filling system with an ink-view window, the same mechanism that defined the original Optima in the 1930s. This system holds a generous ink capacity, reducing how often you need to refill. Discover other piston-filling fountain pens in the dedicated collection.

Since 2008 the central metal band, gold-plated or chrome, has a new design. It shows the Aurora mark framed by two Greek key patterns, applied to every Optima made since then.

Since the beginning of 2008, the central band in gold or chrome metal has changed design, and since then all Optimas have been produced with the new band: the Aurora brand name and a Greek key bordering it above and below.

Auroloid is a plastic material, similar to celluloid, used by Aurora to make its Optima line of fountain pens. It was chosen for its brilliance, aesthetics, and durability, combining the qualities of celluloid with those of modern resins.
